The West Virginia University football team is off to one of their nest starts in recent memory and are well on there way to a historic season led by Heisman candidate QB Will Grier. Throughout the season the football team runs many marketing promotions for the fans. A traditional one now are the True Blue and Gold Rush games where fans show up wearing the respective colors to match the uniforms of the players. Recently, with the success of the football team there has been a petition among some of the fans for the university to have add a "Coal Rush" game, where the team and fans where all black, to represent the state's rich history and pride with coal. The fans also want this to happen against WVU;s biggest opponent of the season, Oklahoma, while the game also happens to fall on Black Friday this year. Now WVU has stated that while they do listen to their fans opinions that they have no plans to add a "Coal Rush" game. They do not want to deter from the Old Gold and Blue that the Mountaineers are best known for. They do not feel it is necessary or even worthwhile to add a black uniform during a prime time game with the potential of a lot of new viewers to West Virginia's brand. Unfortunately, it seems we will not get the Coal Rush game this football season, but hopefully in the future if the Mountaineers keep winning the university will be able out branch out in their marketing promotions. LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!!
